ENTITIES
CONTEXT
Two out of three transit riders are on buses, but ridership has fallen by 33% over the past 5 years. There's a lot to fix, but many of the problems start with a route network that isn't useful for most people. With only five frequent all-day routes, most people are forced to wait 30, 45 or even 60 minutes for the next bus – making life (and transfers!) difficult for the everyday rider.
GOAL
The Better Bus Project is the first advocacy-led and community-driven bus network redesign in the country. We are redesigning the bus network to increase frequent bus routes, create better connections, and make a more useful network in order to recover ridership.
STATUS
Results
With more than 100 events, workshops, and presentations in the books and over 5,000 survey responses to date, the network for the Better Bus Project will go for a final vote in mid 2021 and is scheduled to be implemented by late 2021.
