MacArthur Causeway Bus Lane

With 15,000 daily transit riders, and buses running at a peak frequency of 6½ minutes – the MacArthur Causeway is one of the most utilized transit corridors in all of Miami-Dade County.

Yet buses are stuck in the same traffic as cars.

A bus lane could save transit riders an estimated 6 – 10 minutes each way during ordinary peak hours, and several times that amount during events and construction. Furthermore, it would support increased bus frequency and promote ridership.

Our Position

Transit Alliance supports the creation of a dedicated bus lane on the shoulder of the MacArthur Causeway.

This lane can also be used for emergency vehicles, optionally configured to be used by cyclists during ordinary off-peak conditions, and be implemented in the near-term.
