Dockless Mobility: Embrace & Permit
Miami quickly became home to several dockless bike and scooter sharing companies. As with any new form of mobility, they have been met with glee, suspicion, curiosity and controversy. Miami Beach banned dockless bikes and banned electric scooters, while the City of Miami ordered the companies to cease operations.
We strongly support the emergence and success of dockless mobility.
Miamians are desperately in need of alternatives to their cars, and dockless mobility is a part of the solution. Smart regulation can support this, while an outright ban is completely unwarranted.
We have dedicated billions of dollars to building car infrastructure, solving the issues of "Where do we park them?" and "Where can we drive them?". If we dedicated even a fraction of that investment to solving the same issues for biking and scooting (widespread dedicated parking, widespread dedicated lanes), our city would move faster and move happier.
